The new Intel Core i9, not due until next year, was seen on eBay. The processor is believed to be a possible leak from one of Intel's manufacturers/distributors. Gulftown, the new procie's codename, offers 6 cores of computing power and the eBay item was tagged as an Intel 6-Core Xeon Westmere Gulftown 2.4GHZ LGA1366 ES.
Information about the said processor showed that it came from Taiwan and the seller still had the processor's identification marks "visible" for everyone to see, including the guys from Intel. With this information, Intel will be able to track as to who leaked and where this auctioned procie is.
Whoever sold the chip gained a $1,200 profit.
