Lucas Ordoñez played racing games especially Gran Turismo. His luck was about to change when Sony held a European Playstation competition in Europe looking for the best "virtual driver". Ordoñez won taking out 25,000 of the competition and landing himself, representing his country, in the Playstation GT Academy.
In training camp, Ordoñez was a natural. He knew how to run the race track and what to do when it comes to braking, following racing lines and such, even if his skills still needed some work.
He was able to obtain his 'C' racing license after completing his track times and with this license, he competed in the GTA Dubai International 24 Hour race in 2009. He completed 451 laps and 2431km in 24hrs. This got him to 9th place overall with former F1 driver Johnny Herbert.
