Java has released updates for the Mac OS X platform addressing security issues that could allow an applet to gain elevated privileges on the host system.
The 2 updates, 122MB for the Leopard and 78MB for the Snow Leopard, can be obtained by visiting Apple's support site and downloading them onto the Mac. Alternatively, the update files can also be downloaded through software update.
The two updates also share a fix for a loophole in which an expired certificate for an applet could be regarded as valid.
