Seagate unveils their USB 3.0 entry in the form of the Blackarmor PS110 external hard drive. It comes with its own "performance kit" comprise of a 500GB HDD (2.5inches running at 7200rpm), power cable and an ExpressCard USB 3.0 adapter. Announced last month, this external HDD is up for grabs now at $179.99.
USB 3.0 is dubbed as 'Superspeed USB' given that the new USB transfer speed is increased to 4.8Gbps. USB 2.0 is said to have a transfer rate of 480Mbps with a world recorded average of 320Mbps. Even if USB 3.0 runs only at a 50% rate, it definitely is faster than 2.0.
