Tech Tips: What You Can Do With Your Old WiFi Router

For those who have the right equipment for their wireless environment, it wouldn't be a surprise if 1 or 2 devices go 'offline' to make way for the 'better' ones. In this case, an old wireless router, given the proper assignment, can definitely boost your home network.
This might not be the case for a small wireless home network but still, it is beneficial.

You can definitely use the router as an extender or an AP. When you're out in the garden and trying to rest on your hammock, a good wireless signal is a must. A single wireless router, no matter how strong the device is in terms of coverage, is still no match against a solid wall and more than enough obstacles to reach you outside.

For network computers that have no wireless capability especially desktops, hooking them up with an ethernet cable would be a task if they were in a separate room away from the wireless router. The older routers would definitely come in handy once you have it hooked up to serve in between the main router and the desktop/s in the separate room.

For the business minded, you can also use and turn them into wireless hotspots. Network security is essential here though so make sure that your home network is secure and separate from that of the hotspot.
